A special book capturing Liverpool’s most successful ever event has been published.


'In the Footsteps of Giants' is a glossy 104 page book re-living Sea Odyssey – Liverpool’s unforgettable event which commemorated the centenary of the sinking of the Titanic.


Due to popular demand Liverpool City Council is set to commission a book that commemorates the magnificent Giant Spectacular Sea Odyssey event.  The book will contain hundreds of images captured over the memorable weekend and we are looking for you to get involved. 

 • Sea Odyssey event attracts crowds of around 600,000 and is set to bring in £12m to local economy

• Visitor attractions benefit from huge numbers in the city

• A GIANT one million people visited Liverpool city centre last weekend - creating record levels of trade for businesses.

Thank you to all those who have supported the event so far!  Yesterday saw the Little Girl Giant and Uncle take to the streets once again in the hope of finding each other.  Their fantastic journey, which saw thousands descend into the city, culminated in a heart-warming reunification.

A FREE interactive app to enable people to follow the Sea Odyssey Giant Spectacular event has been launched. 

One of the great aspects of the Sea Odyssey event is that with the Giants being approximately 7m (23ft) and 15m (50ft) high, they are viewable from long distances.  This should mean that everyone will get a good view.  However to help maximise your enjoyment we would offer the following advice:

MORE than 200 volunteers are to help make the UK’s biggest street theatre event a Giant Spectacular success. More than a quarter of a million people are expected in Liverpool from 20-22 April for the Sea Odyssey, which is being brought to the city by world-renowned street theatre experts Royal de Luxe.

AS EXCITEMENT about the imminent arrival of the Sea Odyssey giants gathers pace, Liverpool is pulling together to stage the most ambitious single event the city has ever seen. Everyone from multi-billion-pound companies, to pest-controllers and street cleaners are pulling out all the stops to make sure Liverpool is looking and feeling its best when it goes on centre-stage for the Sea Odyssey spectacular on April 20-22.

THREE'S the magic number as the latest Sea Odyssey surprise is revealed.First there was the 30 foot Giant Little Girl, then came the 50 foot Uncle and now the team behind this month's giant spectacular are delighted to announce that a THIRD giant will be hitting the streets of Liverpool from 20-22 April.

Sea Odyssey is just weeks away and the story is unfolding - Since the announcement of this year’s biggest street theatre event last September, there has been mystery and speculation surrounding the reason why two giants will be roaming the city streets from 20-22 April.

GIANTS WLTM male/female, 18yrs upwards, fit, crowd-pleasing, able to pull at heartstrings (leg strings, arm strings etc). GSOH a must. Last month Liverpool’s Sea Odyssey team announced they were on the look-out for volunteers to be part of the biggest event the city has ever held. 

More than 100 people took part in the three Sea Odyssey Volunteer presentations at St George’s Hall held on Thursday 16 February.  A very enthusiastic audience were treated to a sneak preview of the Sea Odyssey spectacular, adding to the excitement that is already mounting around the April event. 

For anyone who would like to know more about Sea Odyssey and the Volunteer roles, presentations will take place in the Small Concert Room at St George's Hall, Liverpool on Thursday 16 February at 10am, 2pm and 5:30pm. The presentation will last for an hour and there will be the opportunity to ask questions to the team involved.

What's better than one giant exploring Liverpool?  How about two giants… Anticipation is already mounting around what will be the UK’s biggest street theatre event in 2012, as April’s large-scale extravaganza sees a 30 foot Giant Little Girl roaming North Liverpool and the city centre. But she won’t be the only one... 

Groups in Liverpool are joining together to make sure April's 'Giant' event is the most successful in the city's history. Sea Odyssey will be the largest street spectacle Liverpool has ever seen, and for the first time in the city's event history, a mass participation programme has been developed which encourages every resident, organisation, charity and community group to get involved.

North Liverpool will take centre stage for the city’s biggest ever outdoor event. Giant fever is set to hit Liverpool from 20-22 April as the world’s leading street theatre company, Royal De Luxe (RDL), presents Sea Odyssey a magical story of how the human spirit triumphs over the Titanic tragedy - starring the 30 foot tall Little Girl Giant.

A giant story of love inspired by the Titanic will take over Liverpool this year. The world’s leading street theatre company is creating an event in Liverpool which will be the biggest of its kind in the UK in 2012.  A Little Girl Giant will take to the city streets in a street spectacular produced specifically for Liverpool by renowned marionette experts Royal De Luxe (RDL).
